VERITAS SOFTWARE CORPORATION Pack Your Bags Sweepstakes Official Rules

1. NO PURCHASE OF VERITAS® SOFTWARE CORPORATION PRODUCTS NECESSARY. Open only to legal residents of the U.S. and Canada (excluding Quebec Province) who are 18 years or older, and who are not employees nor immediate family members of VERITAS Software nor Midwest Micro. Sweepstakes period begins 6-19-2000 and ends 9-14-2000 at 11:59 PM EST.

2. There are two ways to enter: a) Consumers may enter Sweepstakes only during the sweepstakes period. To enter after making a product purchase, consumers must go to the Midwest Micro website at www.mwmicro.com/showcases/veritas and fill in their name, complete address, date of birth, daytime phone number, e-mail address, date purchased and software serial number of product purchased (complete requested business information and fax # if applicable), then click on "submit" to send the entry. One entry per customer. Entries submitted on-line must be received by 11:59 PM EST on 9-1-2000. Winners may need to provide proof of purchase. b) Consumers may also enter without making a VERITAS Software Corporation purchase by on-line entry or by U.S. mail. To enter on-line, consumers must go to the Midwest Micro website at www.mwmicro.com/showcases/veritas, and fill in the correct answer to "Only ______________ (fill in the blank with the correct product name) is the first Windows 2000 backup utility to be certified by Microsoft, and it operates on both Windows NT and Windows 2000 servers!", and their name, complete address, date of birth, daytime phone number, and e-mail address (complete requested business information and fax # if applicable), then click on "submit" to send the entry. One on-line entry per customer. To enter by U.S. mail, consumers must hand print the phrase VERITAS "Backup Exec", their name, complete address, date of birth, daytime phone number, (if applicable, also indicate your business address, job title, fax number and e-mail address) on a 3"x5" card and mail to: Pack Your Bags, c/o Midwest Micro, 6910 State Route 36, Fletcher, OH 45326-9909. Limit one 3"x5" entry per person during sweepstakes period. All entries must be emailed or postmarked by 8-25-2000 and received by 9-14-2000.

3. Sponsor and it's agencies will not be responsible for lost, interrupted or unavailable network, server or other connections, miscommunications, failed phone or computer hardware or software or telephone transmissions or technical failures, garbled or jumbled transmissions or other errors of any kind, whether human, mechanical or electronic. Sponsor and it's agencies are also not responsible for illegible, incomplete, late, lost, damaged, destroyed, delayed, misdirected or postage due entries/mail. Once submitted, entries become the sole property of Midwest Micro and will not be returned. Sponsor and Midwest Micro reserve the right, in their sole discretion to cancel, terminate, or suspend the Internet portion of this sweepstakes should a virus, software bugs, non-authorized human intervention or other causes beyond the control of Sponsor or Midwest Micro, corrupt or impair the administration, security, fairness, or proper play of the sweepstakes, and in any such event select winners from regular mail-in entries and Internet entries received up to the time of cancellation, termination or suspension. VERITAS Software Corporation and Midwest Micro reserve the right to disqualify anyone tampering with the sweepstakes (including, but not limited to) the on-line method of entry or anyone who violates these Official Rules in any respect.

4. Winners will be determined in random drawings on or about (list the six drawing dates) from among all eligible on-line and mail card entries received. Limit one prize per individual or household. No copies or mechanical reproductions of 3"x5" card entries will be accepted. Drawing will be conducted by the Midwest Micro, whose decisions, along with VERITAS Software Corporation, regarding all aspects of this promotion, particularly the validity of VERITAS Software Corporation sales or any other security issues are final and binding in all respects. By participating, entrants agree to be bound by the Official Rules and the Sponsor's and Midwest Micro's decisions. Winners will be notified by mail or courier. Winners will be required to sign and return an Affidavit of Eligibility, a Liability Release and where legal, a Publicity Release, within 10 days of receipt of notice of winning prize. Travel companion of Prize winner must be 18 years or older and will also be required to sign and return a Liability Release and where legal a Publicity Release prior to travel. As required by Canadian law, Canadian residents whose entries are drawn must correctly answer a mathematical skill testing question which will be administered at a pre-arranged, mutually convenient time before a prize will be awarded. In the event that all required documents are not executed and returned within the prescribed period, winner may be disqualified, with an alternate winner selected. If prize notifications/prizes are returned to the Sponsor or Midwest Micro as undeliverable, such prizes will be forfeited. By participating, entrant agrees that prizes are awarded upon the condition that none of VERITAS Software Corporation, Midwest Micro, their respective subsidiaries, affiliates, and the officers, directors, shareholders, employees or agencies of any of the above mentioned companies will have any liability whatsoever for any injuries, losses or damages of any kind caused by participation in the promotion or resulting from acceptance, possession or use (or misuse) of any prize. Where legal, acceptance of a prize shall constitute and signify the winner's agreement that Sponsor or Midwest Micro may use his/her name, address, likeness and/or prize information without limitation, for promotional purposes without further compensation. Subject to all applicable federal and state laws. Void where prohibited by law.

5. Prize: (6) Trip for two adults and up to three children at a deluxe resort/hotel. Airfare not included. Thirty-five days advance notice required for booking vacation. Prize consists of 3 day/2 night hotel accommodations (one standard room, double occupancy), plus accommodation-specific breakfast, gifts, and discounts (typically includes complimentary first morning breakfast for two; complimentary round of golf for two, disposable camera and 10-minute calling card, complimentary tickets to local attractions, and/or discount coupons for shopping, dining, and entertainment). Winner is responsible for all meals, transportation, gratuities, and any other expenses not specified herein. Approximate Retail Value of each trip: $500.00 (US)/$742.00 (Canada). Approximate Retail Value of all prizes, $3,000.00(US)/ $4,452.00 (Canada).

6. Taxes on prize are solely the responsibility of the winner. No prize substitutions or cash equivalent of prize allowed, except at sponsor's sole discretion due to prize unavailability for any reason and then only for a prize of equal or greater value. Odds of winning will depend on the number of eligible on-line and 3"x5" card entries received.
