SYMPTOMS
The option to enable either Direct3D and/or DirectDraw Acceleration is grayed out and not selectable when you run either "DirectX Driver Tool" or "DirectX Diagnostics Tool".
CAUSE
Some systems with video integrated into the motherboard have a selectable shared memory size to use for video memory. If this option is set to less than 4MB, it will not allow for Direct3D and/or DirectDraw Acceleration.
RESOLUTION
- Restart the computer.
- Immediately press and hold down the [DEL] key as the PC begins to boot to enter the Setup.
NOTE: The key to enter the Setup may vary, depending on your PC.
- Highlight Integrated Peripherals from the main menu then press the [ENTER] key. You may need to consult the User's Manual for your PCs motherboard to locate the main menu option that contains "VGA Shared Memory Size".
- Highlight "VGA Shared Memory Size" then set it to 8MB.
- Press [ESC] to return to the main menu.
- Select Save Settings & Exit then confirm that you wish to save the settings.
- The PC will now continue to boot.
You should now be able to enable the necessary DirectX settings by running "DirectX Driver Tool" or "DirectX Diagnostics Tool". If you still cannot enable the necessary DirectX settings, reinstall the most current video drivers.
